Will we do the same kind of art every week?Therapeutic Art: No, each week we'll try different types of art projects. You'll get to experience a variety of creative activities. Art workshops: The main theme is portrait drawing and learning the skills and techniques needed to achieve this, however, this will be broken up into individual parts so you should be doing different things each session. Towards the end, you may be adding to one final piece of artwork.

Do I need to be good at art to join?Not at all! You don't need to be a great artist. The Therapeutic Art course is about using art to express yourself and make you feel good, not about making perfect art. The art workshops are to teach you drawing techniques, tips and tricks while having fun. It isn't a school lesson, there is no right or wrong.

Can we listen to music while we work?Of course, music is art too! It can make the experience even more fun and relaxing.

What if I don't feel like talking about my feelings?That's okay! You can share as much or as little as you want. The important thing is to enjoy making art and learning new ways to express yourself when you're ready.

Can I invite my friends to join the course?Sure! If you think your friends would enjoy it, tell them to sign up too. The more the merrier!

Will we work alone or with others?Our therapeutic Art Courses are usually 1-1 so just you and our Therapeutic Art Practitioner. In our Art Workshops, sometimes we'll work on individual projects, and other times we might do group activities. It's a mix to keep things interesting and fun. We can also develop our teamwork, and social skills at the same time, as well as maybe making some new friends...Bonus! 1-1 Art sessions are available if working alone is best for you.

How long is each session?Each session is an our long. We'll have plenty of time to create and talk about our projects.

What if I make a mistake on my Art?Mistakes are a part of the creative process! In order to grow, you actually have to make a few mistakes, we encourage it. There are no wrong answers in art, and sometimes mistakes lead to the best ideas. Just have fun and experiment.

Can I take my artwork home?Absolutely! Your artwork belongs to you to take home and do as you wish with, whether you share it with friends and family, or it remains your hidden treasure!

What should I wear to sessions?Wear something comfortable that you don't mind getting a little messy. Art can sometimes be a bit messy, but that's part of the fun! We have aprons available for you but accidents can happen.

What will we be doing in the Therapeutic Art Course?We'll be doing lots of fun art activities like drawing, painting and creating cool projects. Each week we'll have a different theme and project to help you express your feelings and boost your confidence. You are already a star and we want to make sure you know it!

How can I enrol myself of my child onto a course?Enrolment can be done through the courses page. Simply fill out a registration form and we will contact you with further details.

What if my child misses a session?Sometimes unavoidable circumstances arise, we get that. If a session is missed, materials and instructions to complete activities at home will be provided. We can also arrange a brief catch up session if necessary.

What if I or my child wants to join a course that's full?If a course is full, you can join the waiting list, and we will notify you if a spot becomes available. Alternatively, we can recommend other available courses that might interest you.

What payment methods do you accept?We accept payments via credit/debit cards, PayPal, and bank transfers.

Will me or my child need prior experience with art to join the courses?No prior art experience is necessary for the children's or the adult workshops. The courses are designed to be accessible and enjoyable for all skill levels. There is also no pressure to become Banksy by the end of your sessions... We're focused on enjoying the journey! You will learn and improve as you go.

How do art activities help with emotional and mental well-being?Art activities provide a creative outlet for children to express their feeling, reduce stress, and develop coping mechanisms for anxiety. It also boosts self-esteem by allowing children to create and accomplish projects. At the most basic level, it's calming to escape the world for an hour and focus on nothing but creating in a soothing environment. Even having this to look forward to, can make the rest of the day or week easier for most children.

Can parents observe or participate in sessions?To ensure a safe and open environment for the children, sessions are typically conducted without parents present. However, parents are welcome to attend the final showcase of the children's work. We do have services where parents and children can create together. Our Parents and Toddler Paint and Play sessions and Our family paint parties. These a great way for you to bond and have creative fun with your child, or watch them in their creative element. You can create something together as a team or engage in some good hearted competition to see who is the family Matisse!

How do you handle confidentiality and privacy issues?Confidentiality is taken very seriously. All personal information and artwork are handled with strict confidentiality. Consent is obtained from parents or guardians before sharing any data or images. The children are also educated on the importance of privacy so that we can create a respectful environment where they feel safe to express themselves. They know that their work will not be shared without their permission.

What outcomes can I expect from my child by the end of the course?By the end of the course, your child should demonstrate improved emotional expression, increased self-confidence, effective coping strategies for anxiety, and a greater enjoyment of creative activites.

How do you ensure the safety and well-being of the children during the sessions?Safety and well-being are our top priorities. We adhere to strict policies and procedures, including background checks for anyone involved, all of whom are DBS checked, maintaining a low instructor-to-student ratio, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment. We also have clear guidelines for handling emotional distress and provide resources for additional support if needed.

Can the Therapeutic Art Course help with specific emotional issues my child is facing?While this course is not a substitute for professional therapy, it can significantly aid in emotional expression and provide tools to manage anxiety and built self-esteem. We are always here to work with you to help your child and often, the intervention is very successful. For more serious issues, professional therapy may be recommended. We can help you with the process and provide support if this is something you require. Please don't hesitate to ask.

What qualifications do you have to teach Therapeutic Art Courses?Answer from our Therapeutic Art Coach: I have extensive experience in art education and a strong background in using art for therapeutic purposes. I have an accredited certificate in mental health in young people and therapeutic art coaching. I have worked as a Teaching Assistant and Youth work for 7+ years and in that time have picked up on the things that the curriculum misses, that our children desperately need. My personal experiences and dedication to helping children thrive ensure that each session is conducted with care and expertise. In addition to this, I have two qualified councillors on my team to ensure best therapeutic and professional practices.

How long and how often are the sessions?The course runs for 6 weeks, featuring one-hour sessions each week. Research and experimentation has shown that children benefit more from the course when it is extended over time, allowing them to process the information at a comfortable pace which reduces pressure and enhances the potential for the results to have a lasting impact.

What materials do we need for courses and workshops?All supplies will be provided for you during your sessions. You are however, welcome to bring along any personal materials you wish to use. E.g. If you have your own apron, favourite pencils or embellishments you want to use, feel free to bring them along.

Can you join the same course twice?Of course, we'd be happy to have you back again. Sometimes the waitlist for the next course ma be full, meaning the course is booked up before it starts. If this is the case, you fill out your form and go on the waitlist for the next available spot. Each course is adaptable so you won't have to worry about doing the exact same thing twice. There is no restriction to how many times you can complete a course. Adult art lessons in particular, tend to become a regular hobby for some and is most effective when practiced consistently. It can also be a social boost and fun way to meet new people as they join on to the course. At the end of children's Therapeutic Art Courses, you and your child will be provided with some tips and information on how to keep it going at home and help them integrate what they've learned into their daily life. Maybe you have a job or circumstances that don't allow you the time to dedicate towards actively supporting them with this, and that's okay. Should you both desire, you are welcome to keep booking them back in with a new tailored plan each time. We have got you.

What are the measurable outcomes of your courses?We measure success through a combination of qualitative and quantitative assessments. This includes pre- and post-course surveys, observational data, feedback from children and parents, and specific art projects that demonstrate progress in emotional expression, confidence, and coping strategies. The goal is to see marked improvements in these areas by the end of the course.

What is the purpose of the Therapeutic Art Courses?The Therapeutic Art Courses are primarily designed to help children aged 8+ boost their confidence, manage anxiety, enhance emotional communication and build self-esteem through engaging in art activities. Each 1-1 course is tailored to the individual child so if you have any specific concerns please contact us before the sessions begin and we'll do our best to integrate it into your child's course.
