Teen+ Art Zone

Creative space for Teens and Adults only

Welcome to the Teen+ Art Zone, our quirky little corner of the world, where we believe that kids deserve the tools to build a future without needing a therapist on speed dial! But hey, we haven’t forgotten about the grown-ups who need a sprinkle of fun and creativity in their lives too. Let’s face it, reconnecting with your inner child is like finding the last slice of pizza—pure joy! So, come on in, step out of that comfort, and let’s create safe space where laughter and inspiration flow like a never-ending fountain of creativity!

Creativity is a fantastic way to connect with yourself as well as others. Being pushed... (ahem) or gently guided, out of your comfort zone, and having a safe space and support system, goes a long way!

We have plenty of events to keep an eye out for, virtual and face to face sessions, coaching, and an interactive space to talk and connect with others.

Feel free to have a look at some of our art journal prompts to get you started.

Creative activities can enhance emotional regulation

It provides a healthy outlet

for expressing emotions

Research shows that engaging in creative tasks activates the reward system in the brain.

Serving also as a mindful distraction, pulling focus away from stressful thoughts and allowing the brain to process emotions indirectly.

This releases neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, which help improve mood and lower stress levels.

Art Journal prompts

What are art journal prompts?

Art Journal Prompts are creative prompts or ideas designed to inspire and guide your personal art journey experience. They encourage self-exploration through art, using drawings, collages, or written reflections to explore emotions, spark creativity, and reflect on personal thoughts. These prompts are useful because they provide a starting point for self-discovery, relaxation, and creative growth, allowing you to visually express ideas that might be hard to put into words. They are perfect for boosting self-esteem, building mindfulness and encouraging self-exploration in a fun and engaging way.

Here are 4 fun Art Journal Prompts to try

1. Draw your future self

Imagine yourself in 5 or 10 years time. What are you doing? What kind of person have you become? Use colours, shapes, symbols, drawings, collages and or text to represent the future you dream of.

This prompt encourages optimism and helps you to visualise goals.

2. Create a Mood Mandala

Using different colours to represent different moods or feelings. Create a mandala where each section expresses an emotions you've felt this week. Reflect on how you can add more positive emotions.

This helps you add more balance into your life while having a calming activity to do.

3. Celebrate Your Strengths

Use symbols, words, or drawings that represent your strengths, accomplishments and things you love about yourself.

This is to boost self-esteem. Seeing tangible proof of the best parts of you.

4. Your Safe Place

Draw or paint a safe place. It can be somewhere you know, would like to go, or completely made up. Add as many details as possible. Add words if it helps. Use your senses. What can you see, hear, smell, taste, and feel? Is anyone there with you.

This helps to reduce anxiety and bring a sense of peace as your reflect on what makes you feel safe.

Visualizing activates the same neural pathways in your brain as actually performing the action. This repeated mental rehearsal strengthens those pathways, making your brain more familiar with the experience. When doing positive, calming visualisations, the brain interprets these mental images as real, boosting confidence and motivation.

Drawing or writing your visualisation helps solidify it in your mind because it engages multiple senses, reinforcing the idea's.

When you turn thoughts into physical actions, your brain processes the information more deeply, strengthening the neural connections associated with that vision.
